ADU Rules

  • Only one accessory dwelling unit shall be permitted on a lot.

  • ADUs must be at least 190 square feet and no more than 700 square feet. 

  • ADUs must meet the same setback requirements as the main dwelling on the lot.

  • Accessory structures built before July 1, 2023 can be converted to ADUs if they meet setback requirements.

  • No parking is required for accessory dwelling units.

  • Short-term renting of accessory dwelling units as defined is prohibited in all residential zones.

  • Accessory dwelling units as defined must be held in the same ownership as the primary dwelling unit on the property. An accessory dwelling unit may not be sold separately from the primary dwelling unit on the property.

  • The owner of the property must occupy either the primary dwelling unit or the accessory dwelling unit.
